Welcome to Orientation! We would like to acknowledge the land we are on. The Portland Metro area rests on traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River. Today peoples from these bands have become part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz, as well as the Chinook and Cowlitz Nations. It is important to acknowledge the ancestors of this place and to recognize that we are here because of the sacrifices forced upon them. In remembering these communities, we honor their legacy, their lives, and their descendants.

Luke is originally from Portland, Oregon. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Oregon. As a former Peace Corps volunteer and having majored in International Studies, he enjoys experiencing and learning from diverse cultural interactions. He is passionate about increasing access to higher education for non-native English speakers and first-generation college students. His favorite thing about PSU is being able to ride his bike to work everyday, even in the rain! Luke loves that you can surf in the Pacific Ocean, ski Mt. Hood and enjoy a nice dinner in Portland, all in the same day.
